Fractional means flexible. The commitment is the same.
I embed with your business as a senior finance leader, not as a consultant who drops in with a slide deck and leaves. I own the function, make decisions, lead the team, and stay until the work is done. The difference from a full-time CFO is the structure of the engagement, not the quality of the output.
What fractional actually means in practice
Time
Typically one to three days per week, agreed upfront. Enough to be genuinely present in leadership meetings, board calls, and day-to-day decisions, without the full-time cost.
Duration
Engagements usually run six to eighteen months. Long enough to build something that holds. Some clients extend well beyond that. The goal is always to leave the function stronger than I found it.
Involvement
I work as part of your leadership team, not alongside it. That means full access to the numbers, a seat at the table, and accountability for outcomes, not just recommendations.
How an engagement starts

The call
30 minutes. You tell me where you are and what's not working. I ask questions. No pitch deck, no proposal until I understand the situation.

The assessment
If there's a fit, I spend time understanding the business properly. The current state of finance, the gaps, the team, the systems, the reporting. This shapes what comes next.

The plan
I come back with a clear view of what needs to happen, in what order, and what that looks like as an engagement. We agree scope, time, and cost.

The work
We start. I embed, build, fix, or lead depending on what the business needs. Regular updates to leadership and the board throughout.
What I need from a client to do this well
Honest conversations about what isn't working and where you would like to be down the line. A leadership team that treats finance as a strategic function, not just a back office necessity. You don't need to have everything figured out, that's why I'm here, but you do need to be ready to engage seriously with what I find.
